The builders on site have told us that they are snagging the development for completion.

well they still haven’t come near our drains, they have been blocking since we moved in 5 years ago.

The builders are on site to complete the estate as per planning permission granted so the estate can be handed over to the city council. With regards to your drains issue you will have to contact Supple directly( which you probably have on numerous occsaions alread) but while they have staff on site it would be a good idea to plague them with calls.

na, not contacting them any more., pointless after 5 years.
Phelim O Neill, Estates Engineer, Estates Section, Cork County Council Headquarters, County Hall, Cork. is my point of contact now. he assured me that he will not accept the handover until all issues with residents are resolved.

guess who will be doing the chasing now for access to my drains

Tom, we’re at the back of the estate in Foxwood. Have had problems with the downstairs toilet backing up since we moved in 3 years ago. Had Dyno rod stick a camera down and found that the earth rod for the house had been stuck through the drain. I said it to the guys on site last week and asked to have it snagged. There’re here today fixing it. They seem eager to help, might be no harm saying it to them, and check if your earth rod (just outside ESB box – small metal silver cap in the concrete) is parallel with your large drain cover (square black lid)

Just a quick question for everybody. We seen to be having this ongoing problem with our heating, basically it has a mind of it own, sometimes it comes on and sometimes it doesnt, After getting plumbers and boiler people down on several occasions and all have said that the problem is with the water pressure or lack of it, apparently the boiler wont come on if we have less than 1/2 bar water pressure and most of the time the gauge on our boiler reads zero. so its a miracle that the heating comes on at all.
does anybody else boiler read less that 1/2 water pressure or have you noticed your boiler not lighting on occasion.
PS, this has nothing to do with the water being down last week.

you need to twist the inlet valve in the hot tank to leave in more water.

thanks, but its a little more that that I’m afraid.
the issue is with the water pressure, not volume.
pity because i wish it was that simple…
    thanks anyway.

I talked to Danny Matthews from Supple today about our low water pressure in Hillcrest (it’s too low for the shower upstairs to work). He tells me that every house in the estate is supplied from a 4inch mains pipe coming up from the Rochestown Road (so I assume Harbour Heights shares this too) – but also told me that 3 years ago they installed a 6inch pipe coming from the road at the top of the hill, behind the development, but the council have never turned it on.
Danny is going to have the council check the water supply coming into my house.
I’ll post the result when (/ if) I get one.

3″ 6″ 10″ pipe doesnt matter, as we don’t have a problem with the volume, its the pressure.
now if it was a problem with the voloum/amount of water then size does matter. but this is not the issue here, we have plenty of water just not at the right pressure.

and even if one of the “builders” said that we have a 40″ header pipe supplying park, by law every house can only have a 1/2 take off the header.

the reason that the building regulations specify that one can only use a 1/2pipe to supply your dwelling is to restrict the volume of water to a household, but maintains the pressure.

Has anyone had any improvement on Water Pressure since the work was done on the Rochestown Road? I notice on the odd occasion I seem to have increased pressue, but when it low it’s lower than it’s even been!

Danny Matthews is your man for that question.
he recently rewrote the laws of physics on pressure versus volume.
