Bonfires in Pembroke Wood
We discussed the issue of bonfires being held in Pembroke Wood each 23rd June and agreed it is not acceptable. The Residents Association will develop a plan to prevent a bonfire being held next year which will include engaging with the local council and Gardai. We have approached the Town Council to hold an organised bonfire event. We will keep you updated.
Next Litter Pick and Maintenance
Our next litter pick is scheduled for Sunday, 24th July at 10:30 am for 1 hour. We also plan to strim the area where the hedge was removed at the main green. All volunteers welcome. Please encourage your children also to help with the litter picks.
We are also planning to spread some top soil on the burnt area on the main green and sew some grass in an effort to tidy it up.
We have requested Noblewood to try to save the fallen tree at the entrance to the estate.
We are looking for a more suitable location for the litter pick sign. We want to place where everyone in Pembroke Wood can see it as the drive in. We will let you know the new location.
Additional “Children at Play ” Signs
We are locating to erect additional ”Children at Play” signs to encourage people to take more care as they drive through the estate. We hope to have this in place in the coming month.
Collection of Grass Cutting Fees
We are continuing to collect the 2011/2012 grass cutting fees of €70 (or 2 payments of €35) per household. We have extended the collection period to end of next week. We will publish amount collected on completion of our collection. Thank you to all those who have contributed to date.
Active Participation in Maintaining Pembroke Wood
We would really encourage all residents to take an active part in maintaining Pembroke Wood. You can do this through attending our monthly litter picks which are helping to keep our public areas clean. You can also attend our monthly Residents Association meeting (1 hour) to share ideas and actions on how we can continue to improve Pembroke Wood.
Residents Association Meeting
Our next meeting is scheduled for 2nd August at 8:30 pm. An email will be sent out nearer the day reminding all residents and confirming location. Thank you to Passage West Soccer club for hosting this months meeting.

I must say, I’ve lived in a lot of places and I can honestly say Pembroke Woods have the best Residents Association going. I’m an absent landlord but i do call to the estate regularly and I enjoyed the 2 yrs I lived there very much. I hope the community continues to give support in maintaining a lovely estate and reeping the benefits of a nice area to live in

Well done on getting the minutes out and keeping us posted on what’s going on. I agree with the point on the bonfire. An organised family event is needed. We were on holidays in France on 23rd June and they nationally celebrate the festival of St John and we attend an excellent event on a local beach which culminated in a huge bonfire being lit. It was great to attend. Your idea seems very sensible.
