About

The aim of the Pembroke Wood Residents Association is to improve and maintain the environment of the Pembroke Wood estate and the services received by its residents and to work together for common aims.

In March 2005, Passage West / Monkstown Town Councellor and Pembroke Wood resident Marcia Dalton organised a meeting to which all Pembroke Wood residents were invited.

At the meeting, the decision was made to establish the Pembroke Wood Residents Association. Eighteen members of the Pembroke Wood community volunteered to set up a Residents Commettee. There is at least 1 and in some cases 2 representatives from each road / area in the Pembroke Wood Estate. You can find your local representative in the contact page.

In an effort to limit spending on communication activities and to inflict as little pain as possible on the environment, the committee decided that this website / blog will be the primary method of communicating our progres. Just a quick question for everybody. We seen to be having this ongoing problem with our heating, basically it has a mind of it own, sometimes it comes on and sometimes it doesnt, After getting plumbers and boiler people down on several occasions and all have said that the problem is with the water pressure or lack of it, apparently the boiler wont come on if we have less than 1/2 bar water pressure and most of the time the gauge on our boiler reads zero. so its a miracle that the heating comes on at all.
does anybody else boiler read less that 1/2 water pressure or have you noticed your boiler not lighting on occasion.
PS, this has nothing to do with the water being down last week.

The land is owned by the guy IPH developments and is zoned for commercial use. I have spoken to him regarding the fenced in area and currently he is getting plans drawn up to have the zoning changed from commercial to residential but I don’t know yet what type of residential properties he is going to try and get planning for but the committee will be meeting him prior to the planning application being lodged.

Could I suggest that as well as the regular litter pick that people are asked/encouraged to remove the weeds growing on the footpaths outside their own houses. Some parts of the estate are really scruffy looking because of this.

Its bad enough that we hardly get the grass cut, the least we could do is have a bit of pride in our houses and the areas directly outside of them!

I am willing to hand out leaflets regarding this or any other residents association matter.

what is the story with the grass cutting. Rang Danny Mathews on Friday he told me it would be cut Mon and Tuesday. He would prefer if we as residents would cut the greens.
No sign of grass cutters as yet rang Supple again today Mon the girl on reception told me that the cutting of the grass is being organised and are waiting for the grass to dry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I`ve sent an e mail to Supple regarding the grass cutting. I will let you know the reply,if I get one!!! Yes I do think it is a good idea that residents should keep the area outside their houses tidy.

Is there any chance of a litter pick any time soon? The estate is an absolute disgrace and an embarrassment to live in!! The grass wouldnt seem so bad if people would take the time to clear the weeds from outside their own houses to start off with. At least then they would have done whatever they could themselves to make to place look somewhat nice.

It is now at the very worst I have ever seen it in my 7 years living here. Anyone else agree?

Audrey,I agree that the estate is an absolute disgrace and I am ashamed to be living here too,how about the people that are trying to sell their houses! It`s not nice for potential buyers. Why is there nothing being done with the grass, isn`t that what the resident association is for?I started to clean the outside of our house thinking that it might spur people on but ……….

They are cutting the grass as I type this!!!!!! Whahoo!!! Now maybe people may take a bit more interest Caroline. Some of the houses that are for sale have the most weeds outside them. Do they think this will sell a house faster??? I would urge that we have a litter/ weed pick soon now that the grass is being cut.

and they stop cutting the grass before you finished your last post Audrey. this is a joke. they would have been better off not starting it at all then leaving the park half cut. i wonder if its cut outside Danny Mathews house.

I think the grass was cut with a vengence, it was done that fast that I didn`t see it being cut!! Can we maybe put some money together as an estate to get someone to do a proper job?

Apparently they had to cut it first with a bigger cutter. They “cut” the green outside my house nearly two weeks ago. I went after the guy cutting it and questioned him. He told me about having to cut it first and told me they would be back either on the Saturday afternoon or Monday morning to redo it properly. They finally did it this morning!!

The estate looks a bit better now but the weeds and rubbish by the footpaths is a disgrace. Still can’t understand how people can pass this by every time they enter and leave their houses. It would take 5/10 minutes to clear. I do not believe in an estate this size every single resident is that busy.

How wonderful our green looks after being cut properly.Maybe now residents might have the incentive to tidy up outside their houses,ie. the weeds by the footpaths and the rubbish.

I agree with Audrey no one is that busy, why not get your children to help,my 2year old was delighted.

At last, looks great. well done. hopefully next time they wont leave it so long that they have to use a bigger cutter first… “bigger cutter” that tells a story in its self.

is it true that they are going to submit plans for a 4 story industrial unit in the green area opposite the creche, should we as residents object to this and opt for a green area there. this is a residential park after all.

Mary,I`m not sure if it is 4 storey ind unit but the planning notice says, cafe, retail units and I think doctors surgery. I wouldn`t mind that but I think nothing higher than one storey as there is enough height with the creche and apartments.Somehow I don`t think it will happen as the unit by Rockenham around the corner is still empty and with the new EuroSpar opening soon there seems to be retail units on that site too.The way construction is at the min I wouldn`t worry too much.
