John, have you contacted the local garda station about this? If not I would suggest as many people as possible from the area where the car is should put calls in to Passage Garda Station.

    Re: Signs for Children Playing

I would urgently request that the association asks for signs put up at the entrances to the estates of ‘Children Playing’ or some sort of warning sign for cars entering the different parts of the estates .

We are living in Hillcrest and there are often children playing on the road. Cars swing up into the estate.. sometimes very fast and, I believe, that it is only time before a child is involved in an accident.

I would agree with that 100%. I would also ask parents to tell their children of the dangers of playing on the road – even a quietish road like HIllcrest. I also live on Hillcrest, and recently I was driving in – slowly – and a little boy on a trike flew down the road in front of my car. I think residents generally drive with caution, but non-resident drivers may not to be so careful.

Just a quick question for everybody. We seen to be having this ongoing problem with our heating, basically it has a mind of it own, sometimes it comes on and sometimes it doesnt, After getting plumbers and boiler people down on several occasions and all have said that the problem is with the water pressure or lack of it, apparently the boiler wont come on if we have less than 1/2 bar water pressure and most of the time the gauge on our boiler reads zero. so its a miracle that the heating comes on at all.
does anybody else boiler read less that 1/2 water pressure or have you noticed your boiler not lighting on occasion.
PS, this has nothing to do with the water being down last week.

have you checked to see if you have water leaking from somewhere ie the boiler, pipes or even the rads

love to have enough pressure for a leak,

the pipework inside the house has been tested by another when called down for the very same problem about two years ago.

dk,since reading your posting iv had a look at my own boiler, thankfully it works very well but one thing i did notice is the gauge is constantly at 0.i thought it should be between 0 and 2 but mine is not and works fine.maybe your problem is not a water issue?
    just a thought

we have to top up our pressure (boiler man told us) and its working fine. We had a problem with the heating not coming on recently when we turn it on. The boiler man came down and it was because of the thermostat was turned up too high. I didn’t understand this at first. But what it is, is the temperature you set it at, is the temperature at which you want your hall maintained (our thermostat is in the hall), if the temperature in the air is above this, the heating won’t switch on, therefor if you turn it down, the heating will be triggered at a lower temperature. I found that my hall is a bit warmer than some other rooms in the house, so i turned it down by even 2 degrees and this worked perfect. Worth a try!
oh, not sure how we top up the pressure, my husband does something in the hot press, can find out and post back!

I live in Pembroke Grove apartments. Last Friday evening February 1st pot plants were stolen from the front steps of mine and my neighbours’ apartments. The thieves appear to have struck when they knew we were both out. I was wondering if this was a one off or if other people have had the same problem?

we have problems with our heating ,it works perfectly on timer every morning and during the day but every night for the last week it turns it self off from 8.30ish to 10.30ish . i have tried turning it on manually and adjusting the pressure valve in the hot press but nothing works ..its comes back on of it own accord when it pleases !!!!!I was wondering if it is happening in other houses or what kind of problems people are having with their boilers … i had to get a load of new parts about 2 yrs ago as the boiler was leaking but i am wondering if i should replace it completed & with a different make .. any suggestions will be a great help !!!!!!!!!!

As I have small children one a toddler I would appreciate if residents with dogs would not leave them out to use the facilities of the green to releive themselves!!!! It`s not nice cleaning dog poo from your childs hands or shoes. Also, has the resident commitee gone to greener pastures or are you all working under cover? I do see the notice for the litter pick but that seems to be it.

i am commenting on kids not being allowed to play behind the apartments on pembroke grove. my daughter who is 4 plays there because it is safer than playing on the green. the cars fly up an down and if the people in the apartments parked where they should this would not be an issue. my child and others in the estate have been very lucky that they haven’t been knocked down. they cannot cross the road safely becasue the cars are parked in their view and can’t see until it is too late. PLEASE can something be done about this or do we have to wait until a child is hit. The back area is for parked cars not on the road or by the houses. Please be fair to the kids. if ye do not want them behind then sort out the parking so that they can play where they are supposed to. i would appreciate any comments on this. whats more important a property or a life. Thankyou.

also, the dog issue, i have a dog and yes my dog has been out in the past and i do tend to leave him out when no one else is around. this was due to complaints being made. he was and still is (even though he is not out). he was blamed recently for knocking over bins but he was not even out that day. people will never understand unless they own a dog. all complaints come to me however, nothing is being said about dogs barking in the middle of the night or at the moment the 3/4 dogs who seem to be around pembroke grove the last few weeks. Is it just target one person (us) or is anything being said to the owners othe other dogs. by the way every one knows my dog and the children love him and have played with for a long time he is also a good protector in case strangers come to the estate. what goes for one should go for all. this was never a problem when we were growing, why is now such a big deal. it did us no harm.

I see that the grass cutting is left to Supple! at this point now it has really got out of control,it is very unsightly. Is there any chance that,we, the residents might put in a few bob for a outside contractor to do this job, maybe as a one off?

    Many thanks

The grass / weeds are out of control at this point. The open spaces are looking apalling. If Supples are not going to cut the grass on a regular basis, then I think the time has come for the residents to organise / pay for a contrator to come in and do the grass cutting.

New Planning Permission Notice has appeared on the green in front of Doodle bugs.

They are looking for permission to build a 4 storey building! Every thing around it is 2 storey and 3 at most.

Also, permission for coffee shop. Coffee shop today, Take-away tomorrow!

Is the residents association going to do anything about this or is it up to the individual? Perhaps flyers should be circulated to alert people.

Did someone previously apply for planning on this greee and was rejected.
Does anyone know how the council have zoned this area.
Big fear is the council will try to come to a middle gound and give planning for 2/3 storey building.

I don’t think there was permission previously – I know that around 4+ years ago there were plans in place for that area as I checked them out at the time but they were pre-submission (never filed offically from what I can tell) and I thought it had fallen through.

From what I remember, those plans had the building going right over the entire green area and the existing car park was planned to be changed as well. The corner of the new building was really close to the apartments on the right as you look at them. The back of the new building was due to be fairly close to the apartments on the left as well.

I checked out the planning website and the only previous application in that area was to remove a medical/beauty center from the creche building to extend the creche (planning # 052237)

Submissions can be put in up to the 25th of September to object. I’m going to try and get the plans tomorrow and put in an objection in the next few weeks as I’m down around that area and a 4 storey (or even 3) will destroy the look of the area. I can’t see any logic to building on that area, especially the shops, apartments, offices and cafe – basically all of it.

The planning enquiry system is here:

Can anyone on the Committee advise on what the arrangement is for grass cutting from April onwards? Are Supples or Manor Park Homes funding the grass cutting?

    hi,

does anyone have an update from manor park in relation to finishing the landscaping of the estate, i attended a meeting last year and an agreement was made that the commitee would go back to manor park and the landscaping would be completed as a matter of urgency. from what i can see the estate has had nothing done and is actually in a terrible state at the moment. all the roads need to be power washed and the green areas are a disgrace.

    Hi,
    1. Is there any update with regard to Paul Hanlons submission for further building work?
    2. We have a lot of weeds on curbs etc at the moment, is the person who cuts the grass responsible for looking after this?
    3. Have we an update onthe new signage?

I don’t know where to put this on the site. If anyone can help please could then make a heading of this.

Our car was broken into last night. I live in the Brambles, the thieves were also tampering with cars in Harbour Heights and a friend of mine had his car broken into over there last week. Can you spread the word to as many people in Passage as you can and make sure that you don’t leave any valuables in your car. If you hear people outside in the middle of the night take a look out the window. I would hate this to happen to anyone else.
